Never Make a Decision in a Valley

I’m reading the book Three Feet From Gold. Great book. On page 32 I read – Never make a major decision in a valley. What? I thought. I read on.

Most people in relationships and business will hit a wall or go through a major set back in their life or business then quit or make a change.

I started thinking about how many times in my business I hit a wall and wanted to quit or find a new company.

I see now why so many people quit their business or jump to a new company only to jump again and again. You will hit a wall, everyone does. But when you do hit that wall you must keep on keep-in on to get through the valley.

The valleys create high levels of emotion and no one can make a good decision when it’s based on fear or disappointment.

How do you keep yourself from making major decisions in the valley?

Slight Changes

slight changes

Slight changes don’t Do a 180: Stay Focused and Committed

Sometimes when things aren’t going the way we think they should, when your working hard and not getting the results you think you should be getting, then you need to step back and take a look at what could be missing, or better yet have someone you trust take a look at your method and get their input.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting to get different results. But just because your not getting the results you think you should be getting that does not mean what your doing it wrong. Most of the time if you just change one thing everything you’re doing will change. Maybe you need to change what you are saying or how you are saying it.

Slight changes will get you there faster.

For example: The space shuttle on the way to the moon needs to make slight corrections along the way. If it’s off just a fraction it could end up at a completely different location. Slight corrections are very important in business as well as on space flight. It’s better to make slight corrections along the way than every time you get frustrated stopping what you are doing or stop and start doing something totally different.

If you stop to do a 180 you are now not going in a forward direction, but by doing slight changes you will still be moving in a forward direction.
One time I was making cold calls and was not getting good results I talked to my mentor about changing my method of operation he asked what I was saying. He gave me a few suggestions and I added about 6 words to what I was saying and that changed everything. Remember slight changes are better then completely changing your game plan.

In Network Marketing / MLM / Affiliate Marketing, I see people getting frustrated with the way their business is going so they start thinking it’s their business and switch to a new company. Then, they get frustrated and switch again. After about three to four different MLMs and five to eight years have gone by they quite the business totally. If they would have picked one company and stayed focused and committed to it, In five to seven years they would be making really good money. There are peeks and valleys in this business. Don’t make major decisions in a valley. That’s where most people make a mistake. No matter what business you’re in they all have a season of expanding and contracting. It’s part of the business. With new companies coming and going every day and all the HYPE out there, it’s very easy to get confused. 75% of all new companies will not make it past three years. So Stay focused and committed. Stick to your daily method of operation and make slight changes along the way and before you know it you will be making money in the six figures in a year, a month or a week.

I believe in you.

Affirmations

The mind is a terrible thing to waste-so don’t.  Your mind is like a computer garbage in garbage out, why don’t more people do affirmations? I think personal affirmations read to yourself over and over every day is one of the biggest underestimated success principles. I have read affirmations to myself for many years. I change my affirmations all the time depending on what season of life I’m in.

A few things about affirmations that need to be observed

  • The affirmation needs to be in the present tense such as: I have this or that, I am, my life is this or that way
  • The affirmation  needs to be specific. If you’re not specific you may end up at the wrong place such as I drive a yellow 2005 Lotus Esprit.  In the summer of 2011 I’m spending 10 days in Cabo at the ?? resort.
  • They need to be read every day three times a day. First thing when you get up, at lunch time and just before you go to bed. Remember it takes 28 days to become a habit.

Record your affirmations so you can listen to them as you fall asleep. You have to start believing in yourself. Afterall, you listen to yourself all the time in the negative.  You have to train yourself to speak and listen to yourself in the positive.

Here are just a few I use

I am special, God made me special, I am one in a million, I have talents and gift that no other have, I am a miracle

I am a go getter, Every day I do what it takes to be a millionaire

I make a million dollars a year

I love my wife Kari, she is a gift to me and I tell her every day how much I love her

I talk to people every day and people like what I have to say. I listen to them with sincere interest in them. It’s very easy for me to meet new people. I like meeting new people.

I’m in the best business opportunity ever and now is the best time in history to build a network marketing business.  Everyone I talk to want to know what I’m doing. They all want to know about my business and how to get involved. I even have people calling me to tell them about my opportunity. Everywhere I turn people are looking for opportunity to make money and I have the best opportunity for them.

I take full advantage of every opportunity that comes my way.

I am a winner.

I love my life and I’m thankful to be alive.

Share with us some of your affirmations that you are using or have used in the past.

What is True Leadership

Leadership is not the ability to lead it’s the ability to follow. Follow one’s heart, follow others, follow your purpose.

Leadership is the ability to serve

Your purpose is so strong and your ability to express this purpose to others with passion to where they acquire the same purpose. Developing a following is not how well you get others to follow you, rather it’s your passion resonating with others and your ability to serve them in your quest to come together for this common purpose.

Leadership is the ability to lead with passion and to have the power to know what’s right

Leadership is the power to say you’re sorry and make corrections along the way. Leadership is the ability to lead by example and pave the way not just sit up on your pedestal teaching what you know.  A Leader does the grunt work not because it needs to be done, but because it must be done.
A true leader  leads with his heart and serve with his soul.

Determination and Perserverance

Moments

Every moment of your life effects all the other moments of your life and everyone else’s. Every moment of your life effects every other person around you at that very moment and every moment yet to come yours and there’s and everyone they will ever contact. Just the fact that you are reading this changes everything. If you were not reading this, you would be somewhere else at this very moment. Think about this for a moment. There are things you did or did not do as a child that led you to this very moment. If your parents did not do what they did you would not be here at this very moment. The effects you had on every single person you ever came in contact with your whole life good or bad changed the world in one way or another. Every contact you make every phone call, every step through life will affect the world in an unchangeable way. You are so significant whether you do anything or not. Just the act of doing nothing will affect every single moment from here on out. So to say go out and make a difference is kind of ironic because no matter what you do this very moment or any other moment you have at your disposal you will make a difference to more than you will ever know. The effect of a red light puts you in a totally different place at that very moment which changes the moments you would have been in. Your moment’s matter. You matter. Make your moment’s matter. The world is waiting for your next move. This is your MOMENT. Vincent StLouis

It is all part of the process

Many times on our journey for success we get upset when things don’t go

well. Its all part of the process. A seed must sit in the dirt and the mud for

some time before it can rise up into a tall and mighty oak. After a forest fire

the ground is scorched. The ash will bring nutrients to the soil to birth new

growth. Why must the fires take place? That’s all part of the process. A tall

and mighty oak would have a thin and week trunk if it was not for the strong

winds trying to push it over. You see it’s the adversities that make it strong.

It’s the challenge of the butterfly struggling to get out of the cocoon that

allows it to fly. We all must endure the struggles to know how to fly with the

eagles. I know at some times you feel like you can’t take anymore. You just

don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel and you feel like quitting, but you

are a winner so you trudge on one more day because that’s what winners do.

Winners grow and strengthen themselves with every adversity and through

that adversity you develop a root system and the next time a storm blows

you’re strong enough that it doesn’t affect you as much. You just made it

through one more adversity and you are one day closer to your dreams and

goals. You must trudge on towards your dreams because that’s what

winners do. You are a WINNER- Vincent StLouis

Loosen Your Grip

Sometimes we want something so bad we try too hard. You can’t receive Gods blessing if you don’t loosen your grip. Most of the time we hold on so tight it stops us from receiving. You can’t receive without opening up or even letting go of what you have. Piece and tranquility allow us to know. Know what you ask? Know what’s going on around us and to see the opportunities around us.

Have your heard the saying “I can’t see the forest, for the trees are in my
way”. That is so true. Have you ever been looking for something so hard and you can’t find it? Then someone walks up and it’s right in front of you? You’re trying too hard. You must relax and let it come to you. You’re looking so hard for the next sharp guy you miss all the sharp people around you. So many times I hear people talk about what kind of person you are looking for as a great prospect. I believe if you focus too much on that you miss the great prospects all around you. Stop trying to build your business by sight. Build it with heart and faith.

The Man Who Sold Hot Dogs

The Man Who Sold Hot Dogs

There was a man who lived by the side of the road and sold HOT DOGS.

He was hard of hearing so he had no radio.

He had trouble with his eyes so he read no newspaper.

But he sold HOT DOGS

He put up signs on the highway telling how good they were.

He stood on the side of the road and cried: “BUY A HOT DOG, MISTER ?”

And people bought, because he was so enthusiastic.

He increased his meat and bun orders.

He bought a bigger stove to take care of his growing trade.

He was so happy selling Hot Dogs, and people enjoyed doing business with him.

One day his son came home from college to help him out.

And something happened.

His son said, “Father, haven’t you been listening to the radio.? Haven’t you been reading the newspaper.?

The situation in Europe is terrible. The Domestic situation is worse.”

Whereupon the father thought,”Well, my son’s been to college, he reads the newspaper, he listens to the radio, and he ought to know.”

So the father cut down on his meat and bun orders, he took down all his advertising signs, and no longer bothered to stand on the highway to sell his hot dogs.

And his HOT DOG sales fell, ALMOST OVERNIGHT.

“You’re right, son,” the father said to the boy.

” We certainly are in the middle of a great depression. There just isn’t any business. No one even comes by anymore!”

Has someone taken away your dream?

Have you seen the movie the Ghost Busters?

If you did, then you know that you can tell a Ghost Buster by the clothes they wear and the funny car they drive.

But you can’t tell a Dream Buster, because they could look like a your friend, a relative or a loved one.

Don’t share your dreams with negative people.

Go ahead and imagine yourself successful.

For your dreams to come true, create a success team. (Isolation is a dream killer)

You need a team to help you brain-storm and to boost you up after any set backs.

Be sure the ones you share your dreams with believe in your dreams.
