It makes good business sense to focus your efforts on YouTube for best results.

Here is a list of other reasons for using YouTube for business

• Google owns YouTube

• YouTube is user-friendly

• It’s easy to share YouTube Videos

• People spend a minimum of 15 minunte a day watching videos

• YouTube is proven to work!

Here are three steps to effectively drive traffic using YouTube for business.

Video Optimization

Good traffic starts with good Keyword Research! Using “Google Keyword Research Tool,” you can find many keywords and keyword phrases that people are searching for. When doing keyword research keep a list of highly-searched keywords you find for the next time you need a topic to write about.  What are your prospects searching for on a daily basis? It’s all about creating your content based on your customers’ needs.  Your goal is to be found when your customer searches Google?

Using YouTube for business by Optimizing your “about this video”

Search engines don’t read video’s or pictures so you must add a description to your videos so Google will find and rank it.   You are describing the video to your customer and also to Google. Remember YouTube is owned by Google, so Google will index your video description the same way they do articles. Make sure you use your keywords in your video description just like you do when trying to rank your blog post. If you are a local brick and mortar business using YouTube for business then make your video title a local title. Let’s say you are a plumber and you do a video on how to repair a pipe and you live in Kansas City. Your video title may look like this “Fixing pipes in Kansas City” or (pipe fixing in Kansas City” make sure to also add the same title phrase in your video description.

When using YouTube for business give value.

Make sure to get the best camera you can afford and make sure your video is watchable. You don’t need the best camera or the best lighting. The cost of your camera is not as important as the VALUE you deliver.

Give value to your viewer in your videos. Teach something or show how to do something. You can answer the questions or concerns that your kind of prospect might have! Give the viewer tips and information in your videos! Post new videos to YouTube regularly. Just like a website Google likes to see new activity. If time is an issue a good strategy is to create several videos in one afternoon and then upload one a week for the next 10-12 weeks. This consistency creates exponential search engine results! Make a video to get people to visit your website for more information. When using YouTube for business every video should have a call to action. You can add at the end of the video or the beginning a call to action like, “click on the link under this video to read the rest of the story” or “Click on the link under this video to get your free ebook” I like to do a short video with my blog post keyword and just tell the viewer about a blog post I did about XYZ click on the link and read about XYZ!

Video syndication

Unless you’re famous just uploading your video to YouTube won’t get you the good exposure. Using YouTube for business you have to perform a few extra steps to ensure your video ranks at the top of YouTube and Google! Everything you do in the “Video syndication” step will help separate you from your competition and get you more views and ultimately MORE sales!
